How we like our entry forms.
Since it's impossible to know exactly what you're going to do at the show, the best policy is to send a copy of every horse related document you have. If we had our way, you'd copy the coggins on one side of a page, and copy USEF and USDF cards for you, the horse, the horse's owner (and the trainer and or coach) on the other side. It's a squeeze, and might require reducing the USEF horse registration, but it can be done. Saves you in postage too!
Trainer: When you fill out an entry form, the word 'trainer' takes on new meaning. It does -not- mean that wonderful person who has helped you and stood by you. It means the person who takes the responsibility for the horse, and any medications the horse is taking, while the horse is on the show grounds. If that person is you, please remember to sign that space on the entry form too!
Coach: New in 2002, if you have a coach that will be helping you at the show, that person must also be a USEF member, or must pay the fees to participate. We also need to have the coach sign the entry form. Remember to their USEF card.
Owner: We all know that it is not always easy to get the owner to sign horse show entries. You are entitled to sign as their agent. Please insure that you get copies of their cards early in the show season, so you have them.
Please remember that we need signatures in all places on the back of the entry. You are indicating your waiver of liability to participate, and this is important to everyone associated with the show; the organizers, the property owners, the USDF and USEF, and spectators.
Also remember effective for 2003, all horses must have a USDF registration number to compete at a recognized competition. A USDF HID number is $20, valid for life, and counts as the USEF number. A USAE HID number is insufficient! Our advice is to get the USDF HID at a minimum.
USDF membership or non-member ID is also required for rider and owner of the horse (not for trainer or coach). This non-member ID is free, and is a lifetime number.
In 2004, we expect that all USDF memberships will be verified on-line, so it is critical that you write your USDF number clearly. You should plan on bringing all credentials with you to the show. We are hoping that USEF will follow suit. Stay tuned to our NEWS! page for updates.
